Kadhi(Gram Flour Curry)


Ingredients

  • Gram flour(Besan) - 3 tbsp/45gm
  • Oil - 2tbsp/30ml
  • Asafoetida(Hing) - 1/4 tsp/1 1/2gm
  • Mustard Seeds(Rai) - 1/2 tsp/3gm
  • Cumin seeds(Jeera) - 1/2 tsp/3gm
  • Onion, Big Chooped - 1
  • Yoghurt(Dahi)sour - 1 1/4 cups/250gm
  • Garlic(Lasan)Paste - 1tbsp/15gm
  • Green chillies, ground to paste - 2
  • Red chilli Powder - 1/4 / 1 1/2 gm
  • Turmeric(Haldi)Powder 1/4 / 1 1/2 gm
  • Water - 2 cups/400ml
  • Curry leaves(Kadhi Patta) -a few springs
  • Green coriander(Hara Dhaniya) Chopped - 1tbsp/15gm
  • Salt - to taste

METHOD

  • Heat the Oil in a wok(Kadhai). Add the asafotida,mustard seeds and cumin seeds.
  • When they crackle, add the onion and fry till the onion browns.
  • Whisk the yoghurt with the garlic paste, green chillin paste, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, gram flour and salt. Add water and stir.
  • Add to the wok(Kadhai) and bring to a boil. Add the curry leaves and them simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Garnish with green coriander. Serve with rotis or plain boiled rice.
